Ayiku Caught In Lies Again

The Member of Parliament for the ledzokuku constituency Benjamin Narteh Ayiku has been exposed again in an attempt to take credit for an intervention he had no involvement in.

The MP is an interview with Accra based Citi fm said he engaged with officials of the ECG office at Teshie to restore power to the Lekma hospital.

He said; “After my intervention with the manager, he even told me it’s beyond him, so he called his regional director and he said that is their policy and I told him this is about human lives and if someone dies, we can’t do anything about it”. I even knelt down, It was very critical, He added.

Our investigations however reveal that the MP has been dishonest with the media.

Indeed the disconnection exercise was being carried out by a national taskforce hence there was no way an intervention from the district or even regional level would have resolved the issue. Just as he alluded to in the interview, the officers told him that the matter was beyond them.

Again, the MP visited the lekma hospital only on Friday 19th July 2024, whereas power was restored to the facility on Thursday 18th July 2024.

We have also cited correspondence between the minister of health and the minister of state at the energy ministry Herbert Krapah liaising to resolve the challenge swiftly.

We also understand this was discussed at cabinet on the evening of Thursday 17th July 2024.

This is not the first time the MP has engaged in dishonesty and sought to undermine his political opponent Dr Bernard Okoe Boye.

It’ll be recalled that after series of protest by residents to have the LEKMA hospital road fixed, Ayiku claimed credit for the intervention with his communication team arguing that he did it as part of his job as the incumbent MP. This is despite the palpable effort of Dr Bernard Okoe Boye and the conspicuous silence of the MP on this issues throughout the days of unrest.

For some residents, this behavior is becoming characteristic of an underperforming MP who is desperate to retain his position. They view Ayiku’s actions as lacking values and principles, employing undesirable tactics to win the next election. The ongoing allegations of dishonesty and credit-grabbing have further fueled dissatisfaction among constituents.
