COVID-19 Fight: MTN Foundation Donates PPE To Schools

As part of efforts to help win the war against COVID-19, MTN-Ghana Foundation has taken another giant step by distributing  Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) to some selected schools across the country.

According to MTN Foundation, the donations is to about 15 schools across the country which includes those the Foundation has worked within the part and has been supportive to the MTN’s agenda.

The schools that benefited from the donation in Accra include Kinbu Senior High School, OSU SALEM Senior High School, Accra High Senior School, Accra Academy Senior School, and Odorgonno Senior School.

The items donated are 2400 facemask, 2000 hand sanitizers and 6 washing basins, about 6 thermometer guns, and 6 cartons of carbolic soaps.

“School has re-opened and everybody is concern about this pandemic, and so we as Foundation we decided that we will pay a visit to schools around our head-office especially those in our enclave.

Those that we have worked with in the past and very supportive with our course over the years,” the Education Portfolio Advisor at MTN-Ghana Foundation, Ebenezer Terkpe told NewsGhana.com in an interview.

He said MTN noticed is that most of these schools visited were adhering to the COVID-19 safety protocols.
“So we intend to want to enhance the interaction and deepen what they are already observing.

That is why we have decided to touch them with the little that we are having and also to advise them to keep the protocols,” he reiterated.

Mr. Terkper further stated that “the virus is still around it has not been pronounced to have gone, you know we are expecting vaccines and so we should try and keep observing the protocols because that’s the only way we can escape this devastating pandemic.”

The Head-Master for OSU SALEM Senior High School in Accra, Mr. Robert Vandyck who expressed gratitude to MTN-Ghana Foundation for their kind gesture also promised to observe good maintenance culture of the equipment donated to the school.

“We really appreciate what they (MTN Foundation) have done for us, we didn’t expect it, though we have always had a relationship with MTN-Foundation,” he stated.

The Head-Master further disclosed that one other area the School has collaborated with the Foundation is for blood donations.
