G/Const. Yelnona Eugene stationed at National Protection Unit (NPU) sources says has been unwell (somehow psychological) for some time, went on leave for treatment.
He resumed on Friday 29/01/2021 for an extension of the leave to continue with his medication and treatment at home because he was still not well.
It’s alleged that he was denied the leave extension and was put on guard duty at the residence of one Mr. Olympio, a Togo opposition on exile in Ghana at Ridge in Accra.
According to sources, he allegedly shot himself in a washroom at his duty point this dawn.
A few days ago, the Half-Assin District Police Commander, Superintendent of Police Cyprian Zenge also has allegedly killed himself.
The Commander committed suicide in the early hours of Saturday, January 30, 2021. “I am fed up in this world”, a suicide note found read.
The Western Regional Police Command Public Relations Officer, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Ms Olivia Adiku confirmed the story.
A statement from the Regional Command states that “the Regional Crime Scene Team has already visited the scene, where he was found sitting in a blue chair with a gunshot wound on his forehead, with his pistol beside him on the floor and one spent ammunition under the chair.”
