Cultivating Agricultural Excellence: Deputy Minister Spearheads Ghana’s Agribusiness Advancement

Deputy Minister for the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, Hon. Yaw Frimpong Addo, takes center stage at the 3rd Agritech West Africa Exhibition in Accra, propelling Ghana’s agribusiness sector towards new heights of innovation and productivity.

With unwavering dedication to the Planting for Food and Jobs (PFJ2) initiative, he calls upon Ghana’s youth to embrace the vast opportunities within the sector’s intricate value chains. PFJ 2.0 heralds a transformative era, breaking down barriers to entry and establishing sustainable farming zones aimed at fostering climate-smart agricultural practices. This strategic vision not only aims to achieve self-sufficiency in staple crops but also prioritizes the growth and development of broiler production and processing within the poultry farming sector.

Aligned with this progressive agenda, Mr. Manish Gupta, the Indian High Commissioner to Ghana, underscores the enduring partnership between the two nations. With a keen focus on technological integration, Ghana is poised to enhance its agricultural output for global trade, supported by India’s commitment to providing modern equipment and expertise.

In collaboration with esteemed partners including the West Africa Chamber of Agriculture (WACOA), CropLife Ghana, the Association of Ghana Industries, GUTA, and the Food & Beverage Association of Ghana, the upcoming Wegvoraus Exhibition is set to host the 3rd edition of the Agritech West Africa exhibition.

Scheduled from the 19th to the 21st of March 2024 at the prestigious Accra International Conference Centre, this three-day event will coincide with the Food & Beverage Ghana Foodpack Tech Ghana exhibition, under the auspices of both the Ministry of Food and Agriculture and the Ministry of Trade and Industry of Ghana.

Promising to encompass the entire agricultural value chain, the Expo is poised to attract approximately 100 exhibitors from India, South Africa, Turkey, Nigeria, Ghana, the United States, Europe, and other regions. These exhibitors will showcase a diverse array of products spanning agrochemicals, agricultural technology, irrigation solutions, biofeeds, food processing and packaging technologies, innovative food products, as well as processed and packaged food & beverage items.

Together, these collaborative efforts signify a bold step towards a prosperous future, where agriculture stands as a pillar of economic growth and sustainability in Ghana.
