Highlife singer Nana Agyeman has stated unequivocally without mincing words that most of the artistes in the music industry do not qualified to be nominated for an award.
According to the veteran Highlife mogul, some awards given out do not blend with the type of music and category selected for.
“It as it’s been rigged always and not given to the right people mostly with regards to the highlife category of every award scheme.
Sometimes, when we take a look at the highlife music category, most of them do not qualify to be even nominated but they tend to give it to the undeserved ones,” he pontificated.
The Highlife singer speaking on an Accra-based radio station Yonkopa 89.1 FM on the drive time show YENKO NO BOKOO with AOB, also apportioned blame on some Presenters and DJs for collapsing highlife music.
This he said, some presenters and DJs tend to focus on the highlife music of the younger ones as well and leaving out the legends.
Most of them in the media space are used to be playing foreign songs especially Nigerian songs and promoting them during their show. This he said, is gradually killing Ghana’s music industry.
The Araba hitmaker says the Nigerians even got used to the highlife music and later changed its style.
