    First Sky Group Advocates For Establishment Of Organ Transplant Programme

    Executive Chairman of First Sky Group, Mr. Eric Seddy Kutortse, has called on the Government and policymakers to create a legislative instrument that will support and encourage the establishment of a long-term organ transplant programme in Ghana.

    A draft statement for discussion according to him, had been created under the supervision of the Ministry of Health by organ transplantation experts.

    Mr Kutortse said, “This text is yet to be evaluated by stakeholders in Parliament for consideration as a workable legislative instrument to support Ghana’s kidney transplant system.

    The process for finalizing the paper is being led by the First Sky Group in partnership with Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital.

    The goal is to raise awareness among key stakeholders and get input for the document.”
    First Sky Group has been at the forefront when it comes to support for free dialysis for more than 300 patients with kidney problems.

    Since it took responsibility in 2016, the company has spent GHC 32m on free dialysis for patients with kidney complications.

    Speaking at the 21st Annual Thanksgiving Service of the group in Accra, he said, “We don’t intend to give up until the terminal solution which is the establishment of a kidney transplant centre is completed.”

    The desire and commitment to help Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital establish a kidney transplant centre according to the Executive Chairman of First Sky Group is still on course.

    As a result, he said, a joint working committee from Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital and the First Sky Group had been working tirelessly to see to the take-off and completion of the project by the end of 2024.
