NDC Fumes Over EC’s Incompetence

The opposition National Democratic Congress, (NDC) has said they are displeased with the obnoxious manner in which the Jeane Mensah-led Electoral Commission (EC) has over the years conducted itself in managing electoral processes in Ghana.

Speaking at a recent presser in Accra to outburst their displeasure in the ongoing Limited Voter Registration Exercise, General Secretary of the Party, Mr. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey said due to the EC’s negligence in ensuring that ample time was made for comprehensive preparation, they deployed faulty Biometric Voter’s Register (BVR) for the exercise.

He said this negligence is a clear incompetency on the part of the EC and should not be overlooked.
The NDC General Secretary maintained however that his party has rejected the offline or manual registration opted by the EC due to the malfunctioning of the BVR.

He therefore charged the EC to be proactive in implementing robust preventive measures that would help maintain the integrity of the exercise and other Electoral processes.

They called on the Peace Council, Civil Society Organizations, and religious bodies to call the EC Chairperson and her other officers to order as their continued negligence was becoming a threat to Ghana’s Democracy.

The ongoing limited voter registration exercise began on the 7th day of May 2024 and is expected to end on the 27th day of May 2024.
