Aduana Stars to augment squad – Coach Paa Kwasi Fabin

Head Coach of Aduana Stars Paa Kwasi Fabin, has said he will need to augment the playing body with few players in the next transfer season as they seek to make a strong case for the Ghana Premier League (GPL) title.

Speaking in a post-match interview after defeating Hearts 2-0, at the Nana Agyemang Badu I Sports Stadium in Dormaa-Ahenkro, Coach Fabin said he would need the services of three more attackers and a very good midfielder to partner Paul Acquah to make his team complete.

“I’m still not okay with the structure and shape of the team even though we won today’s match. It was a better performance relative to our last match but I’m still not satisfied with the caliber of material we have,” he added.

He explained that attackers would be able to hold the ball in their opponent’s territory for a long time but as “it is now they are not able to do so and this is not very good for a team like Aduana Stars.

“As for defence Tijani and Anokye Badu would be back that would bring a lot of strength to the back,” he added.

Explaining what had changed culminating in the impressive performance witnessed in the game from their poor showing against Techiman Eleven Wonders, he stated that he was told his right and left full-backs couldn’t play because one had red card in Techiman.

“We all thought it was for three matches so I was ready and willing to field him. Just at the last minute when he was dressing up, we received information that he had been suspended for four matches instead. We also learned his contract had ended.

“So in the dressing room, I have to look for another player to replace the one in question and this changed the entire structure and composition of the team from what we had intended, ” Coach Fabin noted.

On the return and recovery of Yahaya Mohammed from injury, he stated that he had complained of pain on his shoulder and had demanded to be substituted at a point but I convinced him to stay on due to the positive influence he had on the players,”.

Coach Fabin indicated that Accra Hearts of Oak played well but his side was “a little bit better today”.
