Former FIFA U-20 World Cup winner, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu on Thursday, December 31, 2020, announced his retirement from the Black Stars.
The Hellas Verona midfielder dynamo in the past decade played key roles at multiple international competitions for the Ghana male senior national team.
However, in the last three years, he has been constantly overlooked and missed the 2019 CAF Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) tournament hosted in Egypt.
After making reflections, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has called it time and has today announced that he is retiring from international football.
“Although I have been out of the Ghana national team for a while, I’m here today to express my profound gratitude to the nation which has been immense help to my career.
“Wearing the national colours has always been a moment of pride and honour for me and my heart has always been with the teeming fans who have offered me unflinching support throughout the years.
“On this day, after extensive consultation with my family and loved ones, I have come to the decision that the time is ripe to hang my boots and retire from international football,” a post on the Instagram page of Agyemang Badu reads.
According to Agyemang Badu, he will now focus on his career with Hellas Verona in the Italian Serie A.
