Let’s show evidence of willingness to lead- Dr. Joyce Aryee to women

The Founder and leader of the Salt and Light Ministry, Rev. Dr. Joyce Rosalind Aryee has urged Ghanaian women to exhibit enough evidence of willingness to be leaders.

Speaking at Bright Conversations held by MTN-Ghana Foundation in Accra, the Former Chamber of Mines Boss said: “It’s not only the people with royalties who are meant to lead, and I think women should show their willingness to lead”

“Those days when I finished the GTV Talking Point program, one lawyer will call me and say, you have spoken for the silent majority. Thank you”.

“Public service is a privilege and opportunity to serve and have fulfillment. Over the period, we’ve lost the willingness to serve. But, the fact is that Ghanaian public servant is well-cherished across Africa and beyond….in Kenya, Zimbabwe, and others”.

Responding to a question on the latest “FixTheCountryCampaigns” by a group of Ghanaians, Dr. Aryee said :

“Whether FixTheCountry or FixYourselfFirst”, I think we should do both. I’m sure when you want someone to do something, you certainly have an idea of how it should look like…let’s hold our leaders accountable,” she stated.

Rev. Dr. Joyce Aryee however, called on Ghanaians to assume roles in public and civil services with the sole aim of serving, contributing their quota to society, and not an avenue for self-seeking decisions.

According to her, the lack of urgency where some public servants don’t appreciate the urgency of times breeds corruption because people are in a hurry to influence.

However, the CEO of MTN Ghana Selorm Adadevoh seized the opportunity to advise the general public to tap experiences of men and women who have already distinguished themselves in many fields.

“Rev. Dr. Aryee apart from forty years of public service, the politician has achieved successes, consulting for mining firms, businesses and she is into ministry, a Reverend and currently Executive Director of Salt and Light.

For us, in MTN-Ghana it’s an opportunity to have her with us today sharing experiences “.
