Some Ghanaians who worked as Electoral Officials during the 2020 general elections have registered their displeasure over the commission’s unfair treatment being meted out to them.
Madam Chairperson pay us if you claimed you have saved 90m USD. For we have waited long for our payment.
The Electoral Officials who spoke to Capitalnewsonline in an exclusive interview expressed over the manner in which the Electoral Commission is delaying their payment.
Even though, the EC has announced that they are being faced with some difficulties in processing the payment; but for how long should we wait for this. “For we have waited for a very long time,” they quizzed.
According to them, the EC claimed there are some anomalies including incorrect bank details and names have been noticed and need to be corrected before any payments could be made.
Meanwhile, the Chairperson of the Electoral Commission Mrs. Jean Mensa addressing an Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC) yesterday hinted that the EC has succeeded in saving 90 million USD as compared to the 2016 polls in spite of inflation and hikes in prices.
This signifies that the government has money to pay us. If you 90 million USD, then pay us.
We, therefore, entreat Electoral Commission to act swiftly to rectify the challenges and expedite the processes needed to be taken.
Some of those recruited as temporary staff to help in the 2020 elections served as presiding officers, verification officers, name list reference officers, COVID ambassadors, and ballot issuers.
