Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Assembly commissions Classroom Block

The Prestea Huni Valley Municipal Assembly has commissioned a two-unit classroom block at Damang in the Western Region.

The building which is a Kindergarten block has two classrooms, a dining hall, washroom, kitchen, toilet, staff common room, a mechanized borehole, and a storeroom.

Nana Amoakwa who represented the Ga Adamgbe Chief said the developmental projects completed in the Municipality by the Member of Parliament (MP) is more than what the previous government did.

He was optimistic that despite Hon. Barbara Oteng Gyasi lost her seat she will be given a Ministerial appointment adding that she should not forget the Municipality especially Damang.

The Education Director who was also represented by Mr. Buabeng said the facility was part of the government’s effort to extend teaching and learning to all.

He applauded the Municipality for ensuring that the little ones learn from a better classroom and pleaded with the community and all stakeholders who have a role to play to ensure that they have good maintenance culture.

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Dr. Isaac Dasmani on his part disclosed that within the four years of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration Damang has had its fair share of the national cake, adding that the construction of a new market and an Arts Training Center at Damang will commence soon.

He promised to continue bringing developmental projects to the doorsteps of the people of Damang, but was quick to add that “most of the projects were built by goldfields, but the assembly can now boast of some projects in Damang.”

The MCE urged the teachers and the community to take good care of the facility.

The Headmistress of the school thanked the Assembly and the MP for their quick response in providing them with the classroom block. She, however, pleaded for an additional classroom block for their primary school as it is a new school.

She also requested for school feeding for the school and trained teachers as there is only one NABCO personnel teaching in the school. According to her the rest of the teachers are all community teachers.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Lawyer Barbara Oteng Gyasi on her part thanked God for a new year.
She said to ensure all children benefit from schooling the president introduced the free SHS and added that to improve Technical and Vocational Education in the country.

“The President is building a state of the arts Technical and Vocational Education (TVET) that will be built in the country and one will be built at Aboso,” she disclosed.

On tourism, she said to improve tourism in the country, an arts Training School is being built at Damang to improve upon knowledge of the citizenry on bead making, textile making, leatherwork among others.

Touching on the new building, she pointed out that Kindergarten and basic infrastructure in the municipality will be improved so that the children get a quality education. “Parents should do their part by ensuring that their children go to school to learn a learn well.”

Mrs. Oteng Gyasi emphasized that the Assembly and the government are doing their part, but is up to the children to also go to school, learn and become good citizens.

In concluding, she said the government has tasked the Gender Minister to ensure that school feeding is sent to all schools.
