The Prestea Huni-Valley Municipal Youth Parliament has lauded citizens of Ghana, especially residents of the Municipality, for demonstrating their democratic rights in an atmosphere of peace and tranquillity during the General Election on December 7, 2020.

“The 2020 Presidential and Parliamentary elections, which took place across the country, including 32 electoral areas and over 21 dozen polling stations in the Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency, transpired in a relatively peaceful and orderly despite the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. And the concerns with violence arising from such a competitive atmosphere,” the Youth Parliament stated.

In a statement issued and copied to the, the Youth Parliament, said the act of discipline exhibited by the residents is admirable and an exemplary one.

“We further encourage all and sundry to remain committed to our common effort to solidify and sustain peace after the elections by contributing our quota towards the development of the constituency, municipality and the nation as a whole,” they added.

The Youth Parliament also congratulated Hon. Wisdom Cudjoe for emerging as the Member of Parliament–Elect of the Prestea Huni-Valley Constituency.

“It is our fervent hope that as a Member of Parliament, he will genuinely represent the developmental interests of the constituents, especially the youth. As a Youth Parliament, the focal point of our existence is youth development and that would be our focused when the MP–Elect appears before the Youth Parliament after he is sworn-in,” the statement read.

The Youth Parliament further urges citizens to not just be active in electing political leadership, but also contributes to the development efforts, with the spirit of patriotism, volunteerism, and national unity.
