Former Captain and top scorer of the Black stars, Asamoah Gyan has taken a swipe at Kotoko supporters in Accra by branding them as hypocrites, after the fans booed him in the match between Legon cities and Kumasi Asante Kotoko on Saturday.
Asamoah Gyan, who was the second half substitute came on in the 75th minutes when Legon cities were pushing for equalizer. He immediately made an impact in the game with a beautiful freekick which missed the crossed bar by inches.
Gyan, who sounded unperturbed with the unfriendly reactions from the travelling fans when he was asked about the incident by responding to be the only Asamoah Gyan to grace Ghana football.
“There is only one Asamoah Gyan and they know”
However, in a video that has gone viral on social media, Gyan is seen verbally attacking Kotoko fans calling them hypocrites since they cannot do what he did if they meet him.
Gyan noted that “the Kotoko fans in Accra are all hypocrites, when they go outside the country, they mention my name and come back here to attack me.
When you meet me one-on-one and you cannot do what you did in the stadium, you are hypocrites. If you go outside the country, mention your players name”.
Meanwhile, the win has helped Kotoko to maintain their second position on the league log with 38points.
