Traditional Authorities, Religious Leaders Warn Parliament Over LGBTQ+
Some traditional rulers and religious leaders in the Central Region have warned Ghana’s legislature against any attempt to pass the homosexuality bill into law, saying any such attempt will be met with the full resistance of the people.
The warning bell, which was first sounded by the Nimfahen of Agona Swedru and Regent of Swedruman, Nana Kweku Esieni V has been echoed by the Akwamuhen of Agona Asafo, Nana Edu Atta I, as well as the Imam of the town, Sheik Ibrahim Cha- Asante.
According to both leaders, not only is the practice against the country’s societal norms and cultural practices but also against the will of God.
Speaking to the media, both leaders expressed dismay at how the so-called developed countries see polygamy as unacceptable, yet want to impose marriage between the same sexes on Africa.

They stated that Africa is a sovereign continent and must begin to think for themselves, and not allow such uncivilized acts to be imposed on the continent by countries that claim to be civilized nations, such as Europe and America.
They, however, blamed the situation on the current crop of some of the leaders of the continent, who they say have failed to utilize all the natural mineral resources endowed with the continent to benefit their people, and always have to beg for aid from the so-called developed countries.
They later warned members of the legislature, who they noted are hiding behind the curtains and pushing for the bill to be passed into law to make the practice of homosexuality legal in the county to have a second thoughts about their decision or be prepared to face the full wrath of the people.
