Traditional rulers in Gomoa Beseadze in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region have resolved to establish an educational fund to support brilliant but needy students in the town who may gain admission into tertiary institutions.
This was disclosed by the Obaatan of the town, Nana Kweku Esuon Okogyeoman III in an interview with CapitalNewsOnline during the celebration of this year’s Annual Akwambo festival of the town.
According to him, the low standard of education is rife, not only in Beseadze, but in the whole Gomoa area, and as such, as traditional rulers, they have thought it wise to set up a educational fund to support and promote education among students in the town.
He further revealed that the town also lacks basic social amenities such as a public place of convenience and a potable source of drinking water, with only one standpipe serving the whole township as well as a durbar ground where public events would be held.
Though one is currently under construction, Nana Esuon Okogyeoman noted that proceeds from the festival would be used to complete the project.
He however stated that they have already informed the District Assembly of their plight, but are yet to receive any response, regarding the provision of those basic social amenities.
He has therefore appealed to indigenes of the town, both home and abroad to support the town’s development, in cash and in kind.
