Softcare FM Manufacturing Ltd Expands Support for Girls’ Menstrual Health Through Vice-Presidential Initiative

Softcare FM Manufacturing Limited supports the Vice President’s initiative with sanitary pad donations to female footballers, promoting menstrual health awareness and empowering girls across Ghana.

Softcare FM Manufacturing Limited, a leading Ghana-based producer of hygiene products, continues to reinforce its dedication to public health and social responsibility through its active participation in national menstrual health initiatives and women’s empowerment programmes.

The company’s efforts align with broader national goals aimed at improving menstrual health awareness, supporting girls’ education, and ensuring that menstruation does not hinder the participation of young women in sports and community life.

Partnership with the Vice President’s Office

In February, Softcare collaborated with the Office of the Vice President to deliver 200 boxes of Softcare sanitary pads to Cabfix Ladies FC, a club competing in the Greater Accra Regional Football Association (GARFA) Women’s Division One League.

The delivery expanded an earlier donation of 100 boxes that had been presented on behalf of the Vice President by Dr. Miriam Rahinatu Iddrisu, Social Policy Advisor. She represented Dr. Ofosu Ampofo, Senior Political Advisor to the Vice President, during the presentation.

This partnership highlights a growing national effort to ensure that menstrual health does not prevent girls from actively participating in education, sports, and other social activities.

Extending Support Across Regions

Following the initial donation, Cabfix Ladies FC demonstrated leadership by extending the distribution of Softcare sanitary products to female footballers in several parts of the country.

Beneficiary clubs included teams participating in the FIFA U-15 Girls Regional Colts League in the Greater Accra and Eastern Regions. Clubs in the Northern and Upper West Regions also benefited from the initiative, along with teams competing in the GARFA Women’s Division One League.

Later in February, an additional consignment of Softcare sanitary pads was distributed under the programme. The new supply expanded the reach of the initiative, ensuring that more young female athletes at both grassroots and competitive levels could benefit from the support.

Supporting Government’s National Initiative

The programme forms part of the Government of Ghana’s Free Sanitary Pad for Girls in Schools Initiative. The initiative was officially launched by President John Dramani Mahama on April 24, 2025, in Mamprobi, Accra.

Through its partnership in the programme, Softcare joins national efforts aimed at ensuring that menstruation never becomes a barrier to education, sports participation, or the personal development of young girls across the country.

Commitment to Quality and Responsible Manufacturing

Softcare FM Manufacturing Limited’s participation in social initiatives reflects its broader commitment to responsible manufacturing and national development.

The company operates under internationally recognised management systems and is certified to ISO 9001 for Quality Management, ISO 14001 for Environmental Management, and ISO 45001 for Occupational Health and Safety. These certifications ensure consistent product quality, environmentally responsible operations, and safe working environments.

In addition, Softcare maintains strict compliance with regulatory requirements from Ghana’s Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and adheres to Good Manufacturing Practice (GMP) standards, reinforcing its commitment to producing safe and high-quality hygiene products.

Contribution to National Standards Development

Softcare’s industry leadership is further demonstrated through its role in national standards development. A representative from the company serves on the Ghana Standards Authority’s Sub-Committee on Menstrual and Incontinence Products.

Through this platform, Softcare contributes technical expertise toward the development and improvement of national standards governing sanitary and hygiene products, helping to strengthen the overall quality and safety framework for such products in Ghana.

Promoting Health, Equality, and Opportunity

By combining high manufacturing standards, regulatory compliance, and impactful corporate social responsibility initiatives, Softcare continues to play an important role in promoting menstrual health awareness and supporting young women in sports.

Cabfix Ladies FC expressed appreciation to the Office of the Vice President and all partners involved in the programme, reaffirming their commitment to using football as a platform to empower girls, promote health awareness, and advance the growth of women’s football across Ghana.

As Ghana intensifies its national drive to improve menstrual health and dignity for girls and women, Softcare remains proud to support initiatives that empower communities and create lasting social impact.
