Speaker Applauded For Bold Stand Against Homosexuality
The Leader of the Great Fire Tabernacle Church, Prophet Okofo Fire has commended the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin for taking a strong stance against homosexuality.
According to Prophet Okofo Fire, the Speaker’s stance demonstrates that he is a man of principle who values and defends both the dignity of Ghanaians and their African culture.
The Speaker was noted to have warned the President, Nana Addo Dankwah Akuffo-Addo of his promise to intervene in the issue when asked about his government’s position on the practice during the visit of the Vice President of the United States of America Kamara Harris to Ghana.
Akuffo-Addo’s response was said to have irritated Speaker Alban Bagbin, who warned the President on the House floor that he is not a lawmaker and thus cannot interfere in the affairs of the House, and that as long as he remains Speaker of the House, he will ensure that no law is passed to make homosexuality legal in the country because such a practice is an affront to the country’s culture.

The Speaker’s stance seems to have soothed many Ghanaians’ fears about whether or not the practice was acceptable in the nation.
This bold stand by the Speaker, Prophet Okofo Fire noted is an indication that he is a principled and God-fearing person who holds the beliefs of religion and the culture of the country in high esteem.
