Genser Energy has secured €456 million in new financing to accelerate major energy infrastructure projects in Ghana and support its expansion into Côte d’Ivoire and other West African markets.
The financing, comprising term and revolving credit facilities, was arranged by FirstRand Bank Limited through its Rand Merchant Bank division, Absa Bank Limited and Standard Bank of South Africa Limited.
In a statement, Genser Energy said the facility would provide working capital for the completion of ongoing engineering, procurement and construction projects while strengthening its balance sheet and providing greater financial flexibility for future investments.
The company said the fresh capital would reinforce its continued investment in Ghana while supporting its strategy to expand operations across the West African sub-region.
Chief Executive Officer of Genser Energy, Baafour Asiamah-Adjei, said the financing demonstrated the confidence of the company’s financial partners in its long-term infrastructure development strategy.
“Since day one, Genser has taken a long-term approach to building energy infrastructure across West Africa,” he said.
According to him, the company will continue investing in large-scale infrastructure aimed at improving energy reliability and supporting industrial development across its markets.
The €456 million facility builds on major financing secured by the energy company in recent years.
Genser said the latest transaction follows its US$428 million corporate refinancing in Ghana and a €200 million equipment loan facility secured by Genser Energy Côte d’Ivoire in 2025.
The company is also preparing to commission two significant infrastructure projects later this year — its Gas Conditioning Plant and the Takoradi Natural Gas Liquids Export Terminal.
The projects form part of Genser’s broader strategy to strengthen energy infrastructure and provide reliable energy solutions to industries and utilities.
Genser currently operates more than 334 megawatts of installed generation capacity and a 436-kilometre natural gas pipeline network in Ghana.
Beyond Ghana, the company is pursuing regional growth opportunities as demand for reliable energy infrastructure increases across West Africa.
Genser Energy supplies power to industrial customers and utilities and also participates in cross-border electricity exports within the sub-region.
The latest financing positions the company to deepen its investment in Ghana while accelerating the development of energy infrastructure across selected West African markets.
