Serene Insurance Limited, a member of the First Sky Group, has reinforced corporate support for Ghana’s 2026 FIFA World Cup campaign with a GH₵22 million combined package aimed at safeguarding the Black Stars and strengthening their preparations for the global tournament.
The support package includes GH₵2 million in cash and a GH₵20 million Group Personal Accident Insurance cover, positioning the insurance firm as one of the key private sector backers of Ghana’s World Cup journey.
The 24-hour cover, which runs from June 1 to July 31, 2026, provides financial protection for players, technical staff, and supporters linked to the national team during the tournament period in the United States, Mexico, and Canada.
Under the policy structure, each member of the playing squad is insured up to GH₵100,000, technical team members up to GH₵30,000, and sponsored supporters up to GH₵10,000, covering bodily injury or death resulting from accidents during the competition window.
The initiative comes in response to the government’s US$30 million national fundraising campaign launched to support Ghana’s participation at the 2026 FIFA World Cup and a series of international friendly matches ahead of the tournament.
Chief Executive Officer of Serene Insurance, Mrs. Mercy Naa Koshie Boampong, said the intervention reflects the company’s commitment to protecting national assets while backing Ghana’s sporting ambitions on the global stage.
She described the Black Stars as a symbol of national pride, stressing that the company’s support goes beyond financial contribution to ensuring security and confidence for all stakeholders involved.
“We are not just protecting players; we are protecting dreams and securing Ghana’s pride on the world stage,” she said, adding that the investment demonstrates belief in the country’s sporting potential and future success.
She further noted that the support is intended to boost preparations and strengthen morale as the team gears up for what is expected to be a highly competitive global tournament.
The official launch of the World Cup fundraising campaign attracted key figures from sports, business, entertainment, and former Black Stars players, alongside corporate institutions and individuals who made pledges towards the national effort. The event also unveiled a World Cup raffle initiative designed to generate additional funding for the team’s participation.
